Recommendation:
Do not mention anything you are giving away as “FREE”. Trying mentioning it as “0” or “at no cost”
Effect:
When “0” vs “Free” was tested online, and an offline retail environment, “0” proved to be more effective than “Free”.
You can use this in many cases such as “Shipping at $0”, “Buy one and get the other at $0”, etc.
However the effect might reduce in case of luxury products
Why it works?
Zero is not just any other number. Its on an another level. It can be said as an emotional hot button - a source of irrational excitement.
When someone says “free” our mind immediately thinks that we are gaining something out of it. But “0” tells us we wont be losing out on any money if we take that decision. This is called as loss aversion theory - People prefer not to lose money than gain it.
How to implement this?
Try testing out the power of “0” wherever possible in your copy.
